Super Mario 64 DS:

The Tower of the Wing Cap (called Wing Cap Course in the original message that appears upon entering, and simply labeled ? Switch in the DS remake) is a castle tower in the sky that contains the Wing Cap Switch, appearing in both Super Mario 64 and Super Mario 64 DS. The entrance is located on the first floor of the Mushroom Castle. Once the player has collected ten Power Stars (14 in Super Mario 64 DS), sunlight will be shining down from the ceiling onto the rug in the center of the room. If Mario stands in the sunlight and looks up, he will be transported to the level. The cloud pattern on the ceiling can also be seen on the second floor in normal paintings that Mario cannot enter, and even later in the entrance holes of Rainbow Ride and Wing Mario Over the Rainbow. Although the sunlight will disappear once the red switch has been activated, Mario can still return to the level by standing in the same spot and looking up.Layout[edit]Mario on the tower
In Super Mario 64, Mario will immediately appear in flight as Wing Mario. Upon landing on the tower, Mario will be able to press the red Cap Switch, which in turn will make all the red ! Blocks solid. A Power Star can also be found here after the player collects the eight Red Coins. This is the only location that Mario enters as Wing Mario; in other courses, he must collect a Wing Cap from a red ! Block and either launch from a cannon or triple-jump to take off.
In Super Mario 64 DS, the red switch is changed from a ! Switch to the namesake ? Switch, which likewise activates all of the ? Blocks in the game. In addition, only Mario is granted with wings upon entering; if any characters other than Mario access it, they still flip as they normally do during a course intro but plummet into the abyss, which promptly transports them back into the castle.
When Mario accesses the ? Switch course for the first time, it is mistakenly described as the ’? Switches of Rainbow Tower’ despite only one such switch existing in this version.
If the player falls below the stage, they will be returned to the castle lobby with no life lost.Mission[edit]The Tower of the Wing Cap in Super Mario 64 DS
There is only one Power Star to collect in this area. Using the wings that he is granted upon entering the level, Mario must fly around the area and collect the eight Red Coins floating in the air in the four compass directions. The Red Coins are found in groups of two. Due to the fact that Mario slowly loses altitude while flying, he will have to reenter the level and try again if he drops below the point the coins are at. Additionally, each pair of coins going counterclockwise starting from the eastern side of the tower is lower than the last, meaning that it is most efficient to start with that pair while going in that direction. Once all the Red Coins are collected, the Power Star will appear at the Star Marker on the tower.Names in other languages[edit]Super Mario 64[edit]LanguageNameMeaningJapaneseはばたけ!はねスイッチへ

*Mario’s Rainbow Castle from Mario Party also resembles the area. Mario’s Wing Cap even appears on a tower on the board.
*Noki Bay in Super Mario Sunshine is accessed in a similar way: by standing on a similar pattern on the streets of Delfino Plaza and staring at the real sun.
*The tower the Sand Bird flies around in Super Mario Sunshine vaguely resembles the Tower of the Wing Cap, due to a similar layout.
*In Super Mario Odyssey, the Power Moon ’Light from the Ceiling’ obtained in the Mushroom Kingdom is found exactly the same way that this level is accessed: by looking up in the middle of the foyer.[Edit]Super Mario 64 / Super Mario 64 DSCharactersBig Penguin • Bob-omb Buddy • Dorrie • Glowing rabbits† • Headless Snowman • Hoot • Koopa the Quick • Lakitu Bros. • Luigi† • Mario • MIPS* • Mother Penguin • Princess Peach • Rabbits† • Toads • Tuxie • Wario† • YoshiBossesBig Bob-omb • Big Boo • Big Bully • Big Mr. I • Bowser • Chief Chilly† • Chill Bully • Eyerok • Goomboss† • King Boo† • Whomp King • WigglerItems1-Up Mushroom • Blue Coin • Jumbo Star • Key • Luigi Key† • Luigi’s Cap† • Mario Key† • Mario’s Cap • Metal Cap* • Mushroom† • Power Flower† • Power Star • Red Coin • Secret • Silver Star† • Vanish Cap* • Wario Key† • Wario’s Cap† • Wing Cap/Wings • Yellow CoinObjects! Picture Poker is a single-player minigame in Super Mario 64 DS and New Super Mario Bros. In the former, it is classified as one of Luigi’s minigames; in the latter, it is classified as a Table minigame.Gameplay[edit]
This minigame is a casino-style card game in which the player automatically bets coins that their five-card hand beats Luigi’s. After being dealt their hand, the player can bet more coins and/or have some or all of their cards replaced with random cards from the deck. Luigi then, if need be, replaces cards in his hand (which appear face down to the player) with random cards from the deck. The hands are then shown. If the player’s hand is better, they win a set number of coins based on both the rank of their hand and the number of coins bet ranging from a Pair (2x) to Flush (or 5 of a kind) (16x). If Luigi’s hand is better, the player simply loses the coins bet. In the rare occurrence that a draw happens, the player gets their coins back.
The player is awarded Stars with each victory and is deducted Stars (if they have any) with each loss. The minimum bet is determined by the number of Stars in the player’s possession; the bet increases by one for every five Stars, with a maximum of four at 15 stars. If the player runs out of coins, the game is over and must be restarted.
If all opponents have the same hand, then these ranks determine who wins, in order from worst to best:Cloud, Super Mushroom, Fire Flower, Luigi, Mario, Super Star.Multiplayer[edit]
The player can choose between three, five, or seven rounds. The player who goes first is chosen randomly. There is not any betting.

*The winner (whose hand is the strongest) takes that many coins from the other players.
*Flush/Five of a kind: 16 coins
*Four of a kind: 8 coins
*Full house: 6 coins
*Three of a kind: 4 coins
*Two pairs: 3 coins
*One pair: 2 coins
*With four players, the winner can receive up to 48 coins taken from other players, and for three players, it is 32. If none of the players have the above hands (Junk), then no coin exchanges occur.In-game instructions[edit]
